Course Objectives:
In this class, you will become conversant with the muscular, ligamentous, fascial, visceral and neural anatomy of the male procreative system. You will demonstrate proficiency with location, palpation and the treatment of these structures, including identification and treatment of trigger points, fascial restrictions and scarring. You will describe the mechanics of breath that include both the respiratory and pelvic diaphragms. And you will understand how mechanical restrictions can limit mobility and contribute to the following conditions:
- Non-Bacterial Chronic Prostatitis
- Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome
- Urinary Dysfunction (difficulty initiating stream, frequency, urgency, nocturia, incomplete emptying).
- Testicular Pain (chronic orchialgia)
- Scrotal and Perineal Pain (mechanical)
- Scars and Adhesions
- Post-Prostatectomy issues
- Pelvic Floor Muscle Spasms and Imbalance
- Sacrococcygeal Dysfunction
- Pudendal Neuralgia
- Ejaculatory Dysfunction
I will discuss, in detail, reproductive anatomy and we will explore manual techniques to mobilize myofascial, ligamentous, visceral, neural and osseous restrictions of the pelvic floor.
